This is not a natural lake but a man-made reservoir created by the construction of the
Mirani Dam near Turbat, Balochistan, Pakistan, which was begun by WAPDA in July 2002 and completed in July 2007. The Mirani Dam impounds the Dasht River, which is fed by the Kech and Nihing Rivers, and creates a reservoir that stores 302,000 acre feet (373,000,000 m3) of water and irrigates 33,200 acres of land in Kech Valley and also supplies clean drinking water to Turbat and Gwadar.
